The House of Gucci, more, more commonly referred to as Gucci, is both a celebrated brand in Italian fashion and a famous designer of leather products. This fashion house was established in Florence in 1921 by Gucci. All over the world, Gucci has gained the reputation of being among the most respected, well known and easily recognizable fashion brands. This fashion house belongs to the popular French conglomerate company, Pinault-Printemps-Redoute (PPR).
BusinessWeek magazine reported that by 2006, Gucci had obtained global revenue of more than US$7 billion. The magazine also rated Gucci as 46th in an annual chart for the “Top 100 Brands”. Gucci has since been cited as the next biggest selling fashion house or label after LVMH. It is also the best selling Italian brand internationally. It is also the most internationally patronized Italian brand. Gucci’s stores all over the world number up to 425. Their products are wholesaled through their franchises and upscale department stores.
Gucci was transformed into one of the most one of the world’s most prestigious and most lucrative business venture. In October of 1995, Gucci went public and its first public shares offer was made at the cost of
$22per share on the NYSE and AEX. Gucci got hold of the watch licence of Severin-Montres in 1997, and renamed it Timepieces. Gucci also received recognition by many organisations for its achievements, both financially and economically, and its prudent and visionary management.
