Transcendental Meditation is a technique of meditation that was originally introduced in the West about the year 1958. This type of meditation technique was introduced by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Transcendental Meditation is recommended and generally performed twice a day for only twenty minutes per session. The target of transcendental meditation is enlightenment as with other forms.. The technique claims to be able to improve a person by the person individual efforts.

The 7 States of transcendental meditation

The first three states of this technique of meditation are awakening, dream and dream sleep less. These states are usually the countries that can be achieved in many other meditation techniques, not just one.

The fourth state is called the transcendental consciousness, which in time can be maintained that the person practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique goes on his daily life. This period of operation of the fourth state is the fifth state of Transcendental Meditation, which is called Cosmic Consciousness. The fifth state is part of the Enlightenment who happens to people who practice this form of meditation. The sixth and seventh statements Transcendental Meditation are described as God consciousness and unity of consciousness, which are refined States cosmic consciousness.

Transcendental Meditation has several effects on practitioners. When the practitioner is meditation and reached an enlightened state, serotonin and cortisol are regulated by the body and promoting a healthy individual. It also promotes a more relaxed and without person who can better immerse itself.

The Other Side

Transcendental Meditation is a controversial practice that has attracted many comments of many religions. Some religions based in the Christian faith claim that this form of meditation tapes far the concept of a true God in favor of the notion that man is able to cleanse its sins by itself. Other religions agree with the Yogi which has about this form of meditation because they believe it seeks to simplify and clarify the relationship of man with himself.

It was also a controversy about a mental patient practitioner of Transcendental Meditation technique which has stabbed another practitioner. Complaints allege that the school teaches the technique could not be aware of the mental condition of the individual disturbed.

The meditation technique in question has acquired a number of disciples, but at the same time, many other seniors prefer the original yoga and meditation techniques that have been practiced for several centuries.

A lot of people following meditation like guided imagery meditation. Meditation music is also very popular with different meditation positions. One type of meditation which is great is LOVING KINDNESS MEDITATION. Here you emphasize on the beautiful qualities of love and kindness that has been given to mankind from the CREATOR.

1. First of all , we sit in a posture( meditation position) and prepare ourself with breathing mediation.

2.We need to be grateful to the CREATOR who has given us so much beautiful things in life. All living things full of positive energies of tremendous kindness, result in our ultimate happiness. Imagine the world to be peaceful calm ocean, everything around is beautiful. There are greener scenes everywhere. Others took so much pain for making us live happier. our mother kindly allowed us to stay in her womb, nourishing our body with her blood and warmth, putting up with great discomfort, and finally going through the painful ordeal of childbirth for our sake. We came into this world naked and empty-handed and were immediately given a home, food, clothes, and everything else we needed.

Later on we were given even more facilities by those around us. Just think of all those people in the world who have helped you in some way or the other. Don’t forget your maids, servants and so on.

We have this present body that we are able to enjoy all the pleasures of life. Even simple pleasures such as going for a walk or watching a beautiful sunset can be seen to be a result of the kindness of innumerable living beings. Our skills and abilities are results of kindness of others. We are taught how to eat, how to walk and talk and what not.

Our spiritual development and the pure happiness of full enlightenment also depend upon the kindness of living beings. To attain the virtuous qualities of enlightenment , we need to thank all the living things in life. We need to be grateful and full of positive energies of kindness, love and compassion so as to attain the physical, emotional and spiritual well being.

3. Now, it’s or time to give back to the world. We need to find ways we can help others. ‘I must love all the living beings in life.’ We develop a feeling of cherishing and that all living things are important and that their happiness matters. This feeling has to be embedded fully into our mind, body and soul. We have to live with this highly POSITIVE feeling from now on.

4. This particular feeling of love, kindness and compassion has to become our ultimate part and hence our reality. Whenever we meet someone, we need to say to ourself that this person deserves all love and happiness in life. Thus ‘cherishing living things’ becomes our main practice.

Virtue is one of the highest qualities of mankind and more this quality a person has got in himself, the more chances are of his mind being peaceful and calm in life. Being peaceful means free from worries, mental discomfort, and that’s where meditation comes into picture. There are two types of meditation which can greatly influence our lives: analytical meditation and placement meditation. By deeply contemplating the instruction, eventually we reach a conclusion or cause a specific virtuous state of mind to arise. This is the object of placement meditation.

The purpose is to find our object or desire to find out what we truly want in our life. Often times there are many contradictions in our mind that and in our unconscious self which we are not able to identify.

What we truly want in life?

Is it money, better relationship, exciting career, or anything else that is materialistic? But we should go in somewhat more depth and find out that what we really want. It’s happiness. We want all those materialistic things because we want to be more happy. Analytical meditation often helps us find that one cause which we are striving day and night for. It is also sometimes called ‘contemplation’.

The Buddhism teachings are very much in favor of negating the worldly desires and this is not supposed to be followed strictly by those who meditate. In fact meditation does not have to do with any religion or school of thought. Having said that, contemplation or analyzing your true goals in life becomes easier if you follow meditation techniques. And often times religious thoughts are based on the idea of finding your aim in life.

By deeply contemplating our true heart’s desire, eventually we reach a conclusion or cause a specific virtuous state of mind to arise. This is what placement meditation seeks to achieve. These processes should be moderate and it is highly recommended to avoid doing them under too much pressure. Meditation and self growth processes are not like training boot camps.

Finding a place in the living quartrs that can be designated as the meditation spot is very important. It is the place where you are trying to communicate with your inner self , so it is best if it is away from other family members, friends or a place where one can be truly be by himself. The corner should be furthest away from the bed if it is in the bedroom. You want that because you don’t want your brain to get confused with the sleep and the meditation process. The spot has to be clean, with minimum number of items around. All one should have is the seating choice (cushion, mats etc.), notebook, glass of water and you. With your basic meditation items gathered and your space prepared, you are almost ready to begin.

It is advised to choose a time of practice. Early mornings are generally good for that. If you are not a morning person, choose late evenings. For a good meditation, you will want to be alert and attentive, not drowsy or exhausted. If you choose the late evening, try to have some time in between your meditation time and your sleep time. One should not eat something before meditation or if eating is required, then do something light.

Place both feet flat on the floor. The first idea is to pick up pen, notbook and write all thoughts one may be having that time. Record your feelings, thoughts and emotions. Anything you do not want to forget should also be written.

Place your hands on your legs with the left hand on the left leg and the right hand on the right leg. Your palms can be up or down, find what position is more comfortable for you. Sit up straight and gently close your eyes. Now begin to become aware of all the things that are going on in your mind, all the things you may be continually rethinking and feeling. Continue to get familiar with you thoughts and start breathing process. Make note when you begin having control of those items you wrote earlier and stop experiencing them in your thoughts. For some people this will happen quickly and for some it will take a lot of practice.

There are many ways one can go on to approach the meditation process. Some people prefer it by doing silently while some may want to try some music. As far as the true deep meditation is concerned, it is often tough for normal busy human beings to practice, the reason being the mind is not accustomed to such high level of peace and calmness.

What one must try is either get a guided meditation cd or use some kind of music. There are many kinds of music available for the purpose. Not all are efficient though. While music may lead to an interesting way of doing the meditation who do it as a hobby or recreational activities, those who want true long lasting and life changing results need doing something different. Whatever form of meditation you choose, it is important to remember that music to meditate by should be simple, calm, soothing and peaceful. It should induce feelings of inner peace and help you to focus. Loud music is never recommended. The most popular musical instruments associated with meditation include the sitar, flute, Tibetan singing bow and the tambora. There are plenty on online websites that offer different kinds of meditation music that you can buy. There are even a few websites that offer free mp3 downloads of music to meditate by.

Having that said, it takes more than just nice sounding music for an ordinary person to experience the most significant meditation effects. Such results are experienced when we engage our mind with different frequency sound waves that stimulate the creation of new neural pathways between the right and left hemispheres of brain. Read our comprehensive review on meditation here.
